‘Piecing Together the Past’ and The 1485 Sculpture Trial

In May 2024 the first artwork of a new and important sculpture trail was installed at Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre.

The sculpture, called Piecing Together the Past, is in the form of a double sided coin, with Richard III on one side and Henry VII on the other. The coins are represented in the form of a partly completed jigsaw, suggesting how little we really know of the true history of the period and the incomplete picture we have of what happened on Bosworth Battlefield on the 22nd August 1485.

The sculpture was designed by Stephen Broadbent Studios, along with three others which will be linked by a walking trail:

The Calm Before the Storm, which will be situated close to St James Church in Sutton Cheney, the Storm Breaks, which will be down on the Fenn Lane, near the Battlefield itself, and at St James the Greater at Dadlington.

You can find out more about the Trail, which is being driven by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council and Leicestershire Promotions Ltd, on the official 1485 Sculpture Trail Website, where you can find out how you can support the project.
